Time and Work: Reflections and Transformations of a Traveler
How is your relationship with time, fellow traveler?
Today, I wrote about time and work. The past is a stage of memory that rearranges and edits itself as we observe it from the future. On July 25th, 2013, I began my odyssey through time, exploring its complex interactions with the way we navigate constant change. For a generation of Brazilians, it was during this time that we faced cultural and socio-political issues intertwined with our work routines, realizing their effects on the country's economy. I already held the position of researcher and strategist, moving from Belém to São Paulo, where I worked at a large agency focused on communication for a network of popular universities, when protests erupted across the country. I proposed that brands should stop their rhetoric and start listening to the people. Little did we know how intricate the scenario would become. I chose to leave my position to embark on a deeper study of time and to teach classes on the subject to marketing professionals and at creativity and innovation festivals.
In 2014, I took my first vacation. I traveled across our vast country and experienced a culture beyond our borders and language in Argentina, and that's when everything changed. I experienced different ways of life, drew inspiration from art and music, and savored typical dishes. It was at that moment that I planted the seed to become a global citizen. On July 25th, 2015, I left São Paulo to live in Porto Alegre, in southern Brazil. I forged numerous connections with creative entrepreneurs, acted as a strategist for a local university, and simultaneously taught about the essence of time at another institution. I got closer to a creative school where I delved into future studies through emerging technologies and data culture. Education had always sparked my interest. Perhaps unknown to some, years earlier, I had progressed from an intern to a supervisor at a laboratory in my university in Belém while teaching at night at another university in the Amazon region and advancing professionally in the regional market.
On July 25th, 2016, I launched my own course focused on connecting with the spirit of the time and emerging culture for the new market leaders. Alongside the most inspiring creative school in the country, I spent a year traveling to various capitals with leaders from national and international companies, teaching critical thinking and reflecting on our role in the market and society, analyzing the past, present, and future. It was a lot of hard work, but the dedication paid off. The course was my first independent and collaborative project, impacting thousands of people and generating over a million in revenue! This led to several consulting invitations and projects within companies, opening new professional horizons and expanding my perception.
On July 25th, 2017, I had the first official meeting with my own team. Time studies transformed into a laboratory and consultancy. We applied the knowledge we had acquired up until then to create my first online course, which remains a bestseller and is considered relevant and innovative five years after its creation. I performed in immersive theaters, embodying the teachings of a time traveler, collaborated with a cyborg from Catalonia, visited Argentina once again, and spent a month in Santiago, Chile, with the magnificent view of the Andes mountain range. I aimed to learn Spanish and teach while traveling through Latin America. Then came the opportunity for an even bigger change, and at the end of the year, I landed on another continent for the first time: Amsterdam, in the Netherlands.
I dedicated myself to improving my English, adapting to a new culture, and interacting with other immigrants. On July 25th, 2018, my Brazilian laboratory and consultancy began working on projects in Europe. This provided me with the opportunity to study in England, teach in Ireland, map the spirit of the time at innovation festivals in Portugal, Germany, and also the Netherlands, where the Netherlands is located. At the same time, I continued with initiatives involving Brazilian brands and festivals.
I established a partnership with a network of cultural institutions scattered throughout Europe. It was on July 25th, 2019, that I officially existed as a European company through this partnership. After so many synchronicities, this date became a conscious personal milestone. A day when everything changes, a day when I allow myself to be outside of time, only to emerge as a new version of myself later. The spiral of the pandemic was deep and painful, bringing lifelong learnings that I am still processing and making sense of through words, which take time to allow me to move forward. I spent a lot of time in silence, simply surviving. But we are the time travelers we had been waiting for. Here I am, telling my story once again. Presenting myself once again.
Since the post-pandemic reopening at the end of 2021, I have been the leader of Mesa Company, a work system created to unleash human potential and deliver a prototyped solution in just five days. Leading this type of experience is a high-intensity sport and a long-lasting performance that requires mental, emotional, and physical dedication. This gives me the opportunity to work with some of the brightest professionals of our time.
On July 25th, 2022, I was invited to delve into the field of digital humanities. I was selected through a process to coordinate an innovation and education laboratory in the field of cultural heritage and memory at a university in Germany affiliated with research centers in the Netherlands and Austria, part of the same ecosystem of cultural institutions I had already collaborated with. This experience allowed me to understand more about European cultural heritage and the importance of preserving and communicating these stories in an increasingly digital world. Working in the field of digital humanities also broadened my horizon in terms of how we can use technology to enhance our understanding of the past and shape our future.
On this day, July 25th, 2023, I felt a calling for a new purpose: to resume sharing about my professional activities. Over the years, my connection with time and work has generated several lessons about identity and the notion of productivity - not as a matter of doing more, but of achieving meaningful results. Now, my desire is to assist those around me in taking the next step as protagonists and agents of change through the work they bring to the world. The world finds itself confused, complex, chaotic, amidst a crisis. Many of us feel exhausted, beaten down, and disoriented. But know that you can count on me, your time-traveling friend.
I embark on a new adventure. Driven by my passion for digital humanities, I decided to start a master's degree in Spain. Surrounded by renowned researchers from Germany, the Netherlands, and Austria, I began studying the intersection between time, technology, and culture. This gave me a new perspective on how societies change and evolve, and how technology plays a fundamental role in these transformations.
Currently, I continue to teach and consult, sharing my experience and knowledge with other professionals. I will be the keynote speaker at an event for C-Levels in Bahia. I have just received an invitation for work in Mexico. The schedule for the next few months also takes me from Rio de Janeiro to the Amazon. I want to turn my learnings into an online platform and a school with physical space and journeys that can welcome travelers from all over the world. Although it has been a challenging journey, I am extremely grateful for all the experiences I have had and the people I have met along the way.
On July 25th, 2024, I hope we can come together in CELEBRATION, honoring our achievements and the lives we've transformed through our presence and actions in the world. I extend to you the invitation to join me on this journey, crossing the waves of life that, despite their obstacles, bring us ideas to postpone the apocalypse and move forward. I encourage you to shape your vision for the next 12 months, 13 lunar cycles, in the orbit around the sun that we will undertake together. Yes, it will be a journey where the past, present, and future lose their linearity and intertwine frequently.

Hoje escrevi sobre tempo e trabalho. O passado é um palco da memória, que se reorganiza e reedita a medida que a observamos do futuro. No dia 25 de julho de 2013, iniciei minha odisseia pelo tempo, explorando suas complexas interações com a maneira como navegamos pela constante mudança. Para uma geração de brasileiros, foi nessa época que nos encontramos diante de questões culturais e sociopolíticas do presente entrelaçadas com a rotina de trabalho, percebendo seus efeitos na economia do país. Já ocupava a posição de pesquisador e estrategista, transitando de Belém para São Paulo, onde trabalhava em uma grande agência focada na comunicação de uma rede de universidades populares, quando as manifestações eclodiram pelo país. Propus que as marcas cessassem sua retórica e começassem a ouvir o povo. Mal sabíamos quão intricado o cenário se tornaria. Optei por deixar meu posto para iniciar um estudo mais aprofundado sobre o tempo e ministrar aulas sobre o assunto para profissionais de marketing e em festivais de criatividade e inovação.
Em 2014, tirei férias pela primeira vez. Atravessei nosso vasto país e experienciei pela primeira vez uma cultura além de nossas fronteiras e idioma na Argentina, e foi aí que tudo mudou. Vivenciei outras formas de vida, inspirei-me em arte e música, saboreei pratos típicos. Foi nesse momento que plantei a semente para me tornar um cidadão global. No dia 25 de julho de 2015, deixei São Paulo para morar em Porto Alegre, no sul do Brasil. Forjei inúmeras conexões com empreendedores criativos, atuei como estrategista para uma universidade local e, em paralelo, lecionei sobre a essência do tempo para outra instituição. Aproximei-me de uma escola criativa, onde comecei a me aprofundar nos estudos de futuro por meio das tecnologias emergentes e da cultura de dados. A educação sempre despertou meu interesse. Possivelmente desconhecido para alguns, anos antes, progredi de estagiário a supervisor em um laboratório da minha universidade em Belém, enquanto lecionava à noite em outra universidade na Amazônia e evoluía profissionalmente no mercado regional.
Em 25 de julho de 2016, iniciei meu próprio curso focado na conexão com o espírito do tempo e com a cultura emergente para os novos líderes do mercado. Juntamente com a escola criativa mais inspiradora do país, passei um ano percorrendo várias capitais ao lado de líderes de empresas nacionais e internacionais, ensinando pensamento crítico e refletindo sobre nosso papel no mercado e na sociedade, analisando o passado, o presente e o futuro. Foram muitas horas de trabalho árduo e a dedicação valeu a pena. O curso foi meu primeiro projeto próprio e em colaboração, impactando milhares de pessoas e gerando mais de um milhão em receita! Isso resultou em vários convites para consultorias e projetos dentro de empresas, abrindo novos horizontes profissionais e expandindo minha percepção.
Em 25 de julho de 2017, tive a primeira reunião oficial com minha própria equipe. Os estudos do tempo se transformaram em um laboratório e uma consultoria. Aplicamos o conhecimento adquirido até então para criar meu primeiro curso online, que ainda é um best-seller e é considerado atual e inovador cinco anos após sua criação. Realizei performances em teatros imersivos, onde personifiquei os aprendizados de um viajante do tempo, colaborei com um ciborgue da Catalunha, visitei a Argentina mais uma vez e passei um mês em Santiago, Chile, com a magnífica vista da cordilheira dos Andes. Eu almejava aprender espanhol e lecionar enquanto viajava pela América Latina. Surge então a oportunidade de uma mudança ainda maior, e no final do ano, pela primeira vez, pousei em outro continente: Amsterdã, na Holanda.
Me dediquei a aperfeiçoar meu inglês, a adaptar-me a uma nova cultura e a interagir com outros imigrantes. No dia 25 de julho de 2018, meu laboratório e consultoria brasileiros começaram a trabalhar em projetos na Europa. Isso me proporcionou a oportunidade de estudar na Inglaterra, ensinar na Irlanda, mapear o espírito do tempo em festivais de inovação em Portugal, Alemanha e também nos Países Baixos, onde a Holanda está localizada. Paralelamente, continuei com iniciativas com marcas e festivais brasileiros.
Iniciei uma parceria com um ecossistema de instituições culturais espalhadas por toda a Europa. Para essa parceria, foi no dia 25 de julho de 2019 que passei a existir oficialmente como uma empresa europeia. Depois de tantas sincronicidades, essa data se tornou um marco temporal pessoal consciente. Um dia em que tudo muda, um dia em que me permito estar fora do tempo, para depois emergir em uma nova versão de mim mesmo. A espiral da pandemia foi profunda e dolorosa, trouxe aprendizados de uma vida inteira que ainda estou processando e dando sentido através das palavras, que demoram a me permitir seguir em frente. Passei muito tempo em silêncio, simplesmente sobrevivendo. Mas nós somos os viajantes do tempo que esperávamos. Aqui estou eu, contando minha história mais uma vez. Apresentando-me mais uma vez.
Desde a reabertura pós-pandemia no final de 2021, sou líder da Mesa Company, um sistema de trabalho criado para liberar o potencial humano e entregar uma solução prototipada em apenas cinco dias. Liderar esse tipo de experiência é um esporte de alta intensidade e uma performance de longa duração que exige dedicação mental, emocional e física. Isso me dá a oportunidade de trabalhar com alguns dos profissionais mais brilhantes de nosso tempo.
No dia 25 de julho de 2022, fui convidado a mergulhar no campo das humanidades digitais. Fui selecionado em um processo para coordenar um laboratório de inovação e educação no campo do patrimônio cultural e memória, em uma universidade na Alemanha afiliada a centros de pesquisa na Holanda e Áustria, parte do mesmo ecossistema de instituições culturais com as quais eu já colaborava. Essa experiência me permitiu entender mais sobre a herança cultural europeia e a importância de preservar e comunicar essas histórias em um mundo cada vez mais digital. O trabalho no campo das humanidades digitais também ampliou meu horizonte em termos de como podemos usar a tecnologia para aprimorar nosso entendimento do passado e moldar nosso futuro.
Neste dia 25 de julho de 2023, senti um chamamento para um novo propósito: retomar a partilha sobre minha atividade profissional. Ao longo dos anos, minha conexão com o tempo e o trabalho tem gerado várias lições sobre identidade e a noção de produtividade - não como uma questão de fazer mais, mas de alcançar resultados significativos. Agora, meu desejo é auxiliar aqueles que estão ao meu redor a dar também o próximo passo, como protagonistas e agentes de mudança, através do trabalho que proporcionam ao mundo. O mundo encontra-se confuso, complexo, caótico, em meio a uma crise. Muitos de nós sentem-se exaustos, abatidos, desorientados. Mas saiba que pode contar comigo, seu amigo viajante do tempo.
Embarco em uma nova aventura. Conduzido por minha paixão pelas humanidades digitais, decidi começar um mestrado na Espanha. Cercado por pesquisadores renomados na Alemanha, Holanda e Áustria, comecei a estudar a intersecção entre o tempo, a tecnologia e a cultura. Isso me deu uma nova perspectiva sobre como as sociedades mudam e evoluem, e como a tecnologia desempenha um papel fundamental nessas transformações.
Atualmente, continuo dando aulas e consultorias, compartilhando minha experiência e conhecimento com outros profissionais. Serei o principal palestrante de um evento para C-Levels na Bahia. Acabei de receber um convite para um trabalho no México. A agenda dos próximos meses também me leva do Rio de Janeiro à Amazônia. Quero transformar meus aprendizados em uma plataforma online e em uma escola com espaço físico e jornadas que possam receber viajantes de todo o mundo. Embora tenha sido uma jornada desafiadora, estou extremamente grato por todas as experiências que tive e pelas pessoas que conheci ao longo do caminho.
No dia 25 de julho de 2024, desejo que possamos estar juntos em COMEMORAÇÃO, honrando nossas realizações e as vidas que transformamos através de nossa presença e ação no mundo. Desde já, estendo a você o convite para embarcar comigo nesta jornada, atravessando as ondas da vida que, mesmo com seus obstáculos, nos trazem ideias para adiar o apocalipse e seguir adiante. Enquanto continuo a ensinar, aconselhar e me envolver em diversos projetos, estou ansioso para construir uma comunidade global de indivíduos com ideias semelhantes, compartilhando nossos insights e criando impactos positivos juntos.
