Decolonizing Our Temporality
We have started an exploratory journey of self-investigation that invites us for temporal decolonization. As a tool, we use an artifact from ancient Mesoamerican cultures, which also resonates with the Pindoramic Amerindian temporality of the continent-country that we now call Brazil.
At Torus Time Lab we believe in the importance of developing a new understanding of temporality and long-term vision. To rethink the shared values and habits of existence for the next era as we move on with the responsibilities urging in the next hour.
In the first half of 2020 we developed projects with this theme as a Temporal Workshop edition - our learning experience that is a plunge in time - dedicated at that moment to studying African ancestral time in connection with ourselves, with the community, with the present and with the planet.
We also conducted a study, presented to companies and creative collectives, on movements that point to these new values and habits of existence. A Next Era To Come as increasingly: questioning; speculative; feminine; ecological and regenerative; spiritualist; techno-humanist, transversal; decolonial, anti-racist and pro-black and pro-indigenous lives; pluriversal; chaordic; abundant; essentially, temporal.
We understand the importance of the next era considering every small step since we also need to survive the next hour. As never before, rituals are necessary to collectively agree on new habits of existence, new temporalities. And, for that, we know the importance of freeing the imaginary.
We then started an exploratory journey of self-investigation that invites us for temporal decolonization. Tzolkin Quest: As a tool, we use an artifact from ancient Mesoamerican cultures which also resonates with the Pindoramic Amerindian temporality of the continent-country that we now call Brazil. The Tzolk'in is a calendar system that is also a periodic table of 260 time frequencies. Combinations that consider living fractal qualities of time that pulse in cycles of 13 measures: 13 days, 13 vines, 13 moons, 13 years… Small and large cycles that we called "time waves" and that, like a tide, carry energies that exist in people, in communities, on planets, stars, all over the kosmos.
In this sophisticated system, rescued in a global event in 1987 — that we feel we were part of — called Harmonic Convergence, we are now in the year 33 of a cycle that is reborn every 52 years (4 x 13), as well as the cycles and seasons of stars that revolve around themselves and others. The 1st New Cycle of this count, preparing for a next era.
Each new year or solar ring receives one of the Tzolkin's 260 energies. Coding this year, we are in the ring of the Lunar Storm in which we face the stormy challenge of the climate crisis and the changes that are necessary even in this decade. At an online event on the night of December 14th 2020, blessed by an eclipse and a new moon from a Cosmic Sun day, we (re)started a new collective exercise of thinking (and feeling) about time: each day we connect with a new frequency through questions that echo and invite us to reflect on the qualities of the present time.
Every 13 days, we start a new time wave. The Dragon's wave brought a call to the beginning of this new time. The Wizard's wave invited us to be open to the enchantment of this journey. In the Hands wave we carry out practical work in our individual healings, which are also collective healings. In the Sun wave we started to illuminate aspects of our lives with the responsibility of also illuminating each other's lives. In the Skywalker's wave, we explore new territories and possibilities of (co)existence. We ended the Worldbridger wave that makes us let go of attachment and control, to be open to new opportunities.
Today is the first day of a new time wave: The Blue Storm wave. We wonder what our purpose will be over the next 13 days. And the kin mantra-code gives us a suggestion: to catalyze our own energy. The Storm is an archetype that talks about self-generation. In the midst of chaos, instead of being carried away by the storm, at Torus Time Lab we look for our center and use movement as an opportunity for self-generation. I invite you to do the same.
We are an independent laboratory and the support of our community is very important. Becoming a member of our Time Traveler Guild from a monthly or annual subscription is one way to make this work possible. Guild members have access to recorded sessions and groups in which we study time and experience collaborative self-investigation processes. All content and experiences are happening both in Portuguese and in English, so we ask you and you choose which one to participate.
We already had known each other from other times. We are here now to reconnect and remember. To write our own cosmic narratives in the cradle of history. It's great to see you again and again.
Welcome to our Guild, traveler.
